Ceiba Beer

Ceiba is the Yucatecan craft beer with the longest history—a beverage steeped in tradition and innovation, heritage and vision. It’s the perfect remedy for the heat, a moment of tranquility, and the ideal companion. It is the result of the experience and passion of the Yucatecan people, who have made this universal beverage their own, creating a beer with a personality all its own. A unique recipe, perfect for the region, made with the finest ingredients from Yucatán by skilled hands that combine experience and innovation.

The brand name is inspired by the sacred tree of the Maya, a symbol of their cultural worldview. The tree represents the spiritual realm—the one that connects the heavens, the earth, and the underworld. The name pays homage to these roots. It equally represents the care taken in selecting ingredients, respect for the brewing tradition, a vision for the future, and the solid, meticulous artisanal process used to produce an unparalleled beer.

The design draws inspiration from a combination of heraldic elements, as well as textures and colors inspired by Yucatán. The artisanal craftsmanship is represented by a careful selection of elements that lend a tangible quality to the design, grounding it in our world and inviting the senses to appreciate it. The logo draws inspiration from the aesthetics of vintage labels, evoking the arrival of beer in Yucatán as a tribute to Ceiba’s roots in the region, and represents the four Mayan cardinal directions with the four elements of beer: water, wheat, hops, and barley.

For the visual identity, we created a logo with lines that strike a balance between the handmade and the industrial—a balance emblematic of the artisan’s workshop. The image is an exploration of textures inspired by the ceiba tree: roots, leaves, trunks, and an interplay between positive and negative spaces that represent the totality of the experience lying between the whole and the void of those black and white tones. A holistic design, a codex that encapsulates the secret and the unique magic of Ceiba.
