Nola Ola
Nola-Ola is a tribute to one of our favorite cities in the whole world: New Orleans, the mythical city born of countless fusions—like the legendary Mississippi River, jazz, cotton plantations, voodoo, ghost stories, swamps, hurricanes, carnivals, Mardi Gras parades, music festivals, the mix of French, Hispanic, and American cultures, the party atmosphere and the tranquility, and the incredible cuisine with its unique flavors.
NOLA is short for New Orleans and serves as the foundation for this identity. The Nola-Ola brand aims to create a Creole and seafood dining experience in a casual, fun, and comfortable atmosphere, where mixology also plays a significant role with drinks like the Bloody Mary, characteristic of the region; an experience framed by the architecture of Colectivo Santos and the interior design by Nodos Estudio Creativo, which recreate the spatial magic of this legendary city.
For the branding, we created a dynamic, fluid typeface accompanied by numerous specially designed symbols that help convey the overall message—both the culinary offerings and the identity of New Orleans, as exemplified by the fleur-de-lis. Mérida, Yucatán—where we’re from—has always been a sister city to Havana, Cuba, and New Orleans, not only because of their geographical proximity but also because of the many similarities and customs that have helped the design and the venue offer an authentic, cohesive, and unique atmosphere and experience.
