VIDA Masterplanning + Design

VIDA is a small studio that creates large-scale projects. From its offices in Australia and Costa Rica, it offers master planning, landscape architecture, and design for large-scale, conscious, and sustainable projects—ranging from hospitality to communities and residential developments. It is a studio that navigates between extremes, at that point between emotion and analysis, the artisanal and the corporate, the small and the large, reason and the heart. Building on this balance, it develops strategies for its clients—strategies born from the conviction that good business is part of good design—and that projects that make people feel good are good business. In this way, the studio consistently creates projects of great aesthetic, emotional, ecological, and economic value.

The main challenge for VIDA was to convey the breadth of its services and dispel the perception that the firm is merely a landscape architecture practice.

The resulting design highlights the organic element that is so fundamental to their processes, organizing it in the same way they do for their clients. Hand-drawn elements and experiments with organic materials (even branches and stones) give rise to a brand that strikes a balance between VIDA’s natural sensibility and analytical approach.

A sober and orderly logo is balanced by a rough and imperfect isotype: reason and passion, technology and nature coexisting, just as they do in the spirit of this team. We see how the clean white backgrounds and crisp typefaces reflect their pragmatism and analytical ability, while the hand-drawn strokes and textures convey that perfect imperfection of the natural processes that inspire them.

The design is expressed across a wide variety of applications, from merchandise focused on reflecting a life of freedom, surfing, nature, and work, to artwork for the walls of their offices. Their graphic identity, in this way, immediately conveys their complex identity in both their physical and digital presence.

The photographic and visual language is also key. The photography created for VIDA, while always sensitive and meticulously crafted, feels honest and intimate. It encompasses both wide-angle shots and small details, illustrations and close-ups, the nature that inspires them, and the human element. In design, as in nature, everything is connected.

The intention is always to convey that intelligent emotion that defines the studio—that balanced passion that allows them to see the potential in every project. That ability to be pragmatic dreamers: to understand everything that exists in a place and then to envision all that it can become. That deep connection with nature and its systems, with our own humanity, and with the constant progress that allows us—through awareness and planning—to do things right.
