Micaela Mar y Leña

MICAELA is stepping through the door and being transported to a world of sea and firewood, of fusion flavors—Creole, Mexican, and universal. It is a sanctuary built to celebrate good food, prepared with wisdom and love, for those who become family. Micaela Mar y Leña is a unique restaurant, with roots in water and fire, a story that continues and is celebrated in every detail, in every dish, in the embers ready for each new culinary revelation.

Thanks to a chance discovery—a letter lost inside a family recipe book dating back to 1897, purchased at a flea market in the capital—the Parentela Group from Comal de Pineda set out to reconstruct the history of our country and our cuisine. We followed the clues left by a remarkable woman—a mulatto and Creole, the daughter of a former slave who fled Louisiana to find his true home in the port of Veracruz, and a mestizo mother of proud dual heritage. It is a life that intertwines with that of a town and a family that would leave their mark on our history and our dining tables. The origin lies with “Mica,” that brave woman who knew that what is good for the stomach is also good for the heart.

The visual identity reconstructs this story and these values through a careful balance of materiality and warmth, where Micaela’s human touch and loving spirit guide every line. Handwritten notes, display cases paying tribute, the lightness of a warm and familiar touch—all brought together in a design that evokes the blue of the sea and reverberates in waves and ripples, connecting us all.

Micaela is a unique experience, built around the grill and the sea, steeped in history yet looking toward new horizons. An architectural and interior design experience that transports us to that classic, ever-authentic place—where we savor a dish prepared just for us, set within a warm and inviting aesthetic space of textures and flavors, full of colors and invitations to take a seat at the table.
