AFTERLIFE
As a species, we have come a long way, reaching heights no other living being has achieved. We have walked on the moon, looked beyond the galaxy, and uncovered the mysteries of the atom. However, technology has placed us in a unique situation: we are drowning in a flood of information and content. We are in danger of losing our connection to our most primal nature, our origins, and our natural strength.
The concept of Offfterlife was born as a play on words for OFFF, the most important and disruptive festival of creativity, technology, and design of them all, with events around the world and headquarters at the Barcelona Design Museum.
Offfterlife showcases the OFFF experience, presenting a world where technology and mysticism coexist. With Offfterlife, we create a total experience where craftsmanship, the spiritual, and the material coexist with the digital and technological, always allowing for vital interventions.
For Offfterlife, we created a rich graphic ecosystem where form and content come together as a whole. The anchor element of the system is the mask—the form that reveals the true essence of the wearer. The system is complemented by an original and expressive typeface that combines the primal with the technological. Both elements gave rise to a whole suite of applications with great flexibility but a shared spirit.
We chose the mask as the anchor because masks have always been objects that amplify energy and signify communication skills and the ability to convey intent. Rather than concealing, they are tools of revelation, liberating mirrors, and bridges that foster connections. It is no coincidence that the word “person,” with roots in Etruscan and Latin, means “mask.”
The Offfterlife mask was the result of a careful study of the oldest masks in human history, combined with the eyes inspired by the OFFF logo. The masks were carved from reclaimed wood from the Yucatán region and produced in collaboration with the company Marbol. Sixty-five pieces were created—one for each speaker and key staff member involved—and each was customized to reflect the unique styles, work, and personalities of those who make up OFFF.
After OFFF, nothing is the same, and we believe that the Offterlife is the union of this playful, uncertain, and even surreal future—with that primitive past and our origins—whose sole result is that we become more ourselves, more aware, and more human.
After Offfterlife, nothing is the same.
